Little Girl's Beach Dream Wedding
Marisa and Steven's wedding was one of my first wedding after I decided to enter the adventure of Wedding and Event Planning business. The couple hired my service as Partial Wedding Planner, and I was very fortunate to help her dream wedding come true! It was a perfect Beach Wedding held at Virginia Beach Resort Hotel and Conference Center (which is now demolitioned and being renovated to a different hotel).
The Love Story
The couple is one of many others who started on online dating. They found each other on online dating app called "Plenty of Fish" and chatted for a week until they decided to meet in person. Their same interest in brewery and appetizers made them realized that they were meant together.
A couple of years later of being together, the couple took the risk on moving to a completely different place they haven't ever been - Virginia Beach, VA! And about six months later, on December 3rd in 2016, as they were scheduled for Photo session in Norfolk Botanical Gardens to use for their Christmas cards, Marisa had no idea that Steven had a separate plan - the proposal!
The week leading to the wedding day was very challenging! The weather was not promising. Although their venue provided a room as their rain back-up location, this bride is determined to have her dream wedding come true - getting married on the beach. The venue coordinator was insisting to make our mind changed and have the wedding be done inside. I remember Marisa's email to me - "I will get married if it’s sprinkling. I’ve been dreaming of a beach wedding since elementary school so as long as it’s not a downpour I am doing it."
I asked everyone I know to pray for no heavy rain, and even posted on my personal Facebook account! On the day of the wedding, no change of plans although we were aware that there is a chance of rain. I remember when the Marriage Commissioner came, told us that we had to start very soon as it started raining on other parts of Virginia Beach on his way to the venue. I And of course, the wedding day was perfect! We preceded in time. I cued the musicians to start playing for seating of guests and lined up the wedding party! And, wowzah! The bride had it!
The Beach Wedding Theme
The ceremony set-up consists of the arch made by the Bride's father decorated with simple white tied drapery and finished with hints of greeneries. The couple did a unity sand ceremony.
The reception was very beachy as the bride DIY her decor of bowls of sand with shells and the bottle table numbers. They had koozies and mini sand bottle for their favors. For sweets, they had cupcakes and a small cake for their cake cutting topped with fish cake topper! For guestbook, they used a canvass and had their guests marked their thumbprints creating bubbles-like icons.
And at the end of the night, as they day continued to be rain-free, the wedding ended with the sparklers send-off... And they lived happily ever after...
